Budgeting shows how much money you are spending and can hopefully help you with reducing unnecessary expenses and paying off debt.
Financial planning, on the other hand, should include budgeting along with retirement, insurance, and your will or estate planning.
Although budgeting might not seem like a lot of fun, doing it can lead to a lot of fun. Like most things in life, you need to put in the work before you can truly enjoy the fruits of your labor. Nobody expects you to fall in love with it, but the more attention you commit towards it, generally speaking, the better off you will be—that and increasing your income, of course.
