Hi! I’m Adam Spencer, some of yall know me as Ace. I help self-employed individuals and small businesses to succeed.
You might be thinking to yourself, “Ace, I’m not sure if this is a blog post that would interest me.” Well here’s the thing: New Year’s resolutions are a great way to create a plan for the year and set goals for your life. But it can be hard to stick with them if you don’t know how to make a resolution plan. It doesn’t have to be that difficult though!
Here are some steps you can follow when creating your New Year’s Resolution Plan in 2022:
1) Start with a goal – what do you want?
When you’re creating your New Year’s resolutions, it’s important to start with a goal in mind. What do you want to achieve this year? Having a specific goal in mind will help you to create a plan that is tailored to help you reach your target.
Once you know what you want, write it down. Having it on your computer in a word or google document list is great but to truly make it a reality, get a notebook like our exclusive Make Manage Grow Money notebooks, and physically write it down. Or maybe order a small dry eraser whiteboard for your fridge for this list. But, make sure to create a list with each goal.
2) Set up a plan to help you reach your goal
-Decide on the steps that you should take to help you reach your goal? Writing it down and literally coming up with a plan of attack isn’t a bad idea.
-Agree on a timeline for your resolution. This will be different depending on the goal, but it’s something to keep in mind when coming up with a plan.
-Schedule it in. Go ahead and make a list of activities, events, or even include what you want to accomplish each week which leads to our next step.
3) Take baby steps
When you’re creating your New Year’s resolutions, it’s important to start with a goal in mind. What do you want to achieve this year? Having a specific goal in mind will help you to create a plan that is tailored to help you reach your target.
Once you know what you want, break it down into smaller goals that are easier to achieve. This will help to keep you on track and make sure that you don’t get overwhelmed. If your goal is to save $12,000, consider trying to save $250 each week. After a month, you will have $1,000. Do this 11 more times and you will achieve your goal.
4) Stay Positive and Motivated
It can be hard to stay positive and motivated when you’re trying to reach a goal, but it’s important to remember why you set the goal in the first place. If you start to feel discouraged, take a step back and read your goal list. Remind yourself why they are important and what you hope to accomplish.
Also, finding an accountability partner will help to keep you motivated along the way. This could be a friend, family member, colleague, or even your social media and internet fam. By letting others know about your goal, you will have to be accountable to yourself and the individual who knows.
5)Reward yourself for the wins.
When you achieve a milestone or take a step closer to your goal, treat yourself! This will help to keep you motivated and push you towards your final destination. Splash out on that new outfit, book that vacation or enjoy a weekend getaway with friends. Celebrate your accomplishments along the way and you’ll be sure to reach your goals in no time!
With these steps, your New Years’ resolutions will be ready to go and you can create a plan that will help to keep your goal in mind and on track. It’s important to remember what you truly want to achieve in life when creating the resolution plan so take some time to think about it before drafting up your list of goals and resolutions.
“It’s not about the destination, it’s all about the journey.” With these 5 steps, you’ll be able to take your New Year’s resolutions on a successful and fulfilling journey.
